We recently finished a kitchen using Schuler cabinets purchased from Lowes. Our next project was to finish off a den with storage units and bookcases. This time we order Kraftmaid cabinets, also from Lowes. Both sets were cherry, although we used a lighter stain on the Schuler cabinets, schuler cabinets vs kraftmaid.

So basically once you accept the cabinets when you receive them - that's it! Mostly I got that except for 1 tall cabinet which box was MDF. We didn't have time to reorder since the installers were ready to go, so we accepted it. My real problem is water damage. Kitchens are wet places. The warranty says they won't pay for extreme water damage - I get that. But I have 4 cabinet fronts that have warped bottom inside panels because they did get water drips. The 2 doors under the sink, the towel drawer and the garbage door all have water damage on the MDF panel that they used on the inside of the door frame. This is exactly why we paid extra for real wood. Maybe if they painted the bottom edge of the panel better, to seal it, the drips would not have went down between the moulding and frame and cause this damage. I emailed them and they will not replace them because they say they do not replace for water damage.

They asked me from whom we purchased the cabinets, Lowes or H. The same question, received the same response when our appliances were delivered. We did have a few minor dings on some of the Kraftmaid units. One of the cabinets however was severely damaged.
