You can't do proper adblocking e. That's why I don't really use it except when on battery and out travelling - and even then I'll often avoid using Safari since ads are so awful. Other browsers on iOS are not allowed or able to implement them. However, since uBlock Origin is only available as a browser extension, it can only be used with a browser that supports extensions. No browser on iOS is able to support uBlock Origin. Increasing YouTube ad display rates on mobile drove me to using the somewhat clunky AdGuard share button in safari that blocks ads when using YT in Safari. It is funny that Android has better adblock features uBO on Firefox.

To benefit from uBlock Origin's higher efficiency, it's advised that you don't use other inefficient blockers at the same time such as AdBlock or Adblock Plus.

Check activity monitor, if it takes up a lot of CPU or battery, uninstall and get something else. If it's not a scam it at least works hard to appear as a scam. Android also has Newpipe, which is the absolute best ad-free yt experience. Since then Apple has begun phasing out Safari extensions as extensions, and has instead been implenting a new extensions framework which is extremley limited in adblocking functions, only allowing "content blockers", which are just links bundled as an app which Safari enforces. Since it's a firewall, it won't be impacted by any changes in Safari. It is able to block all ads, trackers and annoyances that users encounter. Both of them use EasyList [3], and you can enhance it yourself with additional custom filters. It can't slow down your safari browser. It just has nothing to do with ad blocking performance, and there's no one on this thread complaining about that.
