LCD pixel failure repair kits, ribbon cable light bulb, background light lamps are now available for DIY repairs sold on www. Remove T10 Torx screw from circuit board and separate board from back of faceplate. Remove 2 more T10 Torx screws on circuit board from underside which is holding plastic light board onto circuit board. Rip off ribbon cable and unscrew 6 bulbs using flat head screwdriver. Throw bulbs away and replace with new bulbs twist in. Use flat head screwdriver to gently scrub off adhesive left over from old cable pulled off LCD. Use acetone to remove ALL residue left over from old cable on circuit board traces. Place teflon applicator onto soldering iron T head, turn on iron and let warm up fully. Should take about minutes. The teflon may come off, unplug the iron allowing it to cool down, then putting the piece back on should fix this. Line up cable on traces of LCD, use heat to bond the cable to the glass. Before you order this part please disassemble your SID unit and compare your original cable with the one shown on the picture. Small tip before you purchase - there is a chance that you'll need new LCD display as well and if you'll keep your existing LCD display - new ribbon cable installation would not help. I have found if you take the unit apart - you need a very small size torx driver like those used for mobile phones. Once apart the problem like the SIDs is the connection between the pcb and the flexi conection strip to the lcd display, unlike the SIDs as far as i know, the problem on the ac displayis also involves the connection between the flexi strip and the lcd panel ie both sets of connections on the flexi strip. Basically as suggested by other people on the SID problem, i used a 'cold' solder to press on each connection on both the pcb and lcd sides of the connections. You need to have patience. This involves heating a fine tipped solder iron for a short period and letting it cool so that it barely melts a poly bag.
