Rocket League stands in a field of its own as a competitive multiplayer game, with its mixture of teamwork, coordination, precise aim, and driving skills making it hard to squeeze into any pre-existing genre. But how does the ranking system work? The majority of ranks are split into three sub-divisions, which are further broken down into tiers that are used to judge your progress through each rank and division.

Recently I've been trying to play ranked. The last time I played ranked was with the old ranks like prospect and challenger. I'm pretty bad, and since I have no friends that are at my same skill level, and I don't want to ruin some rando's experience, I play 1v1s. How does the ranking system in rocket League work? Rocket League and Epic Games has been brilliant at offering their players base a plethora of chaotic yet terrific competitive game modes, whether that is the standard ranked gameplay, Snow Day, Rumble, or Dropshot mode.
