The Shark AI Robot is a robot vacuum with relatively advanced automation features. It sits near the middle of Shark's range of robot vacuums, with a relatively sophisticated laser navigation sensor that allows for smart pathing and object avoidance, features not found on the entry-level Shark ION Robot RV Series. The Shark AI Robot is a satisfactory option for bare floors. It can easily pick up small debris, but pet hair can get caught in the brushroll, and it has trouble clearing bulky debris as the dirt compartment fills up. It also has many parts that need regular cleaning or replacing, so recurring costs can add up over time. The Shark AI Robot is a mediocre option for low-pile carpet. It can pick up a fair amount of large debris, but it struggles to clear very fine debris. Pet hair can also cling to the brushroll rather than get sucked up. This vacuum also has many parts that need regular cleaning or replacing. Still, it feels well-built and does a great job maneuvering itself.

It sits above the Shark EZ Robot Self-Empty in the brand's lineup, from which it differentiates itself with the inclusion of a LIDAR sensor, which allows for handy features like pin-and-go navigation and support for virtually-drawn no-go zones. It's also compatible with a self-emptying base station, helping to reduce hands-on maintenance requirements. The Shark Matrix Robot is decent for bare floors. It can clear away the majority of solid debris on this surface type within a pass or two, though it might not be the best option for cleaning tile floors with deep grout lines, as it doesn't have sufficient power to really suck out heavier debris. Its LIDAR mapping sensor allows for fairly quick and precise mapping, but room coverage could be better. It also has quite a few components that you'll need to clean periodically. The Shark Matrix Robot does a decent job of cleaning low-pile carpet.
