Rainbow Beach on the west side of St Croix has some of the calmest waters on the island. Our planned snorkeling excursion to Buck Island was cancelled due to wind, rough water and cloudy conditions. We were already in the car but without a plan. We took a chance and headed to West End since we had heard Rainbow Beach was someplace we needed to visit before leaving. There was no wind, the sea was calm and only a couple dozen people on the beach. Talked to the guys at WEWS and 5 minutes later we had an umbrella and 2 chairs. Not much to see snorkeling but calm water was great for the kids, ages 2 and 7. Later we rented 2 jet skis and little man told mommy, "Go faster, don't let daddy pass us".
