Plastic corflute posters can now be recycled thanks to a new recycling trial available at the Randwick Recycling Centre. The Plastic Recycling Hub will collect the corflute posters. The corflutes will be chopped and shredded into smaller pieces, at which point some of these pieces can be used by re-manufacturers, the remaining pieces are then processed into pellets or a resin for re-use by other companies that utilise recycled material. Residents are asked to remove any metal or plastic eyelets, cords or cable ties that may be on the posters before dropping them off. The new initiative comes just one month after Randwick Council started re-collecting soft plastics at the Recycling Centre. In the first month of the new service, local residents dropped off more than 1.
