Jane and the Dragon is a CGI cartoon about the adventures of the eponymous characters and their friends, in the castle of the kingdom of Kippernia. Set in approximately the 's, Jane is in training to become the first female knight ever. She gained the position at the age of ten when a dragon kidnapped the crown prince and she rescued him, finding out in the process that Dragon meant no harm, and thought that the prince was a key part of solving the dragon runes on his cave. After she returned with Prince Cuthbert and Dragon, King Caradoc allowed her to become a squire, which she had trained in secret for months beforehand. The show is notable for having unusually sophisticated characters, storytelling, and dialogue for a cartoon that most sources consider suitable for five-year-olds. Dragon Talk is a recurring segment of the Qubo run of Jane and the Dragon. It shows Dragon briefly recapping what happened in the episode that aired before it, and its moral.

It also aired on the Qubo weekend lineup from September 9, four weeks after its cancellation until , when the network shut down1. It has also been on Treehouse TV. Jane is a redhead year-old adolescent girl who lives in the late 8th or early 9th century [2] Kippernia Castle in a small fictional kingdom called Kippernium [3] located in southern England. When the prince is kidnapped by a dragon, Jane sets out to slay the beast. When Jane brings the prince back, the king makes her a knight apprentice. Jane and the dragon end up becoming best friends. Further details of this early adventure are never explained in the series. They are, however, explained in detail in the book Jane and the Dragon by Martin Baynton. The series follows Jane's interactions with the rest of the castle's residents and their frequent adventures. Themes of integrity, loyalty, friendship, and courage are woven through the stories. Jane frequently makes errors in judgment, but every episode ends happily.

Dragon is a young member of an airborne herbivore species of dinosaur who evolved over millions of years from carnivorous ground-dragons. He is Jane's best friend and is usually there when she needs him. His words indicate he is at least years old in the series. A tapestry created on the castle's creation allegedly years ago depicts him as a hatchling. Outside of the show, creators have described him as years old with a potential to live and born "about years ago" in a cave not far from the castle. It is there that he meets Jane for the very first time. His home is actually in the mountain, full of secret tunnels and traps.
