In a post-holiday therapy slump? One way to fight the winter blues of cloudy days and indoor recess is to pull out unique activities and games for speech therapy! Why not enjoy it instead of rushing straight to the chocolate hearts and lace? Our students with language impairments need the extra exposure to vocabulary, pull and bear slp.
Bolus control exercises are used to strengthen the muscles of the tongue and mouth and to enhance coordination. This involves tongue manipulation of a licorice stick. This must be done slowly and carefully. The SLP holds one end of the stick while the patient holds the other between the tongue and hard palate. The patient can manipulate the stick from one side of the mouth to the other and from front to back.
