I'd never been to Popeyes before, but had heard of it from friends and Insider's Food Wars series. I visited Popeyes in Romford, popeyes milkshake, which is also in East London.

Popeyes is opening its first store in Berkshire on Thursday, February 23, and I was lucky enough to be invited down to the Reading restaurant for a sneak preview of what the international chicken chain has to offer. With celebrity fans including Beyonce and Kim Kardashian, I've been eager to try their famous Louisiana cooking for quite some time. Their distinctive bright orange branding certainly catches the eye of any passers-by looking for a spot for lunch. The bright branding continues inside, which has a lovely lounge-style theme to it, with lots of booths and comfy seating. I really appreciate that the restaurant is a bit cosier than most fast-food brands, this branch also has table service to make it an even nicer, less hectic experience than you might expect from other high street chains. It's no surprise to anyone that the fried chicken is the star here. I tried their chicken sandwich, which seems to be the restaurant's signature dish.

The outside looked bright and fun, but nothing extraordinary. I was curious about what the interior would look like. There were some cool additions, like a large TV screen in the eating section, which played promotional videos. I also really liked the blue, orange, and white color scheme. To me, it opened up the restaurant and made it feel more spacious. In my experience, this is typical across all UK fast-food restaurants, so I wasn't blown away. I ordered from the screen as it was the most convenient.
