Poison Ivy is the alter ego taken by Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley , an eco-terrorist and prominent enemy of Batman. First appearing in Batman , she is depicted as one of the world's most prominent eco-terrorists, motivated by an obsession with plants, misandry, botany, and extremist environmentalism with a desire to save the world from the evils of man through any means necessary. A genius scientist and meta-human with hybridized plant DNA, Poison Ivy uses mutant plants, will-bending pheromones and toxins from plants and her own bloodstream for her criminal activities. Ivy has also developed a special relationship with fellow villain Harley Quinn , with the two often being depicted as recurring partners-in-crime, friends and, sometimes, love-interests. Pre-Crisis, Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley, a promising botanist from Seattle, was seduced by her botany professor Marc LeGrande into assisting him with the theft of an Egyptian artifact containing ancient herbs. Fearing she would implicate him in the theft, he attempts to poison her with the herbs, which are deadly and untraceable. She survives this murder attempt and discovers she has acquired an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases. FBI eventually found out about those events, but they kept her name incorrectly as Lillian Rose. Ivy accepted, but her villainous reputation did not sit well with teammates Starling and Katana , both of whom attacked Ivy on first sight. Ivy easily fended off their attacks and became a member of the Birds of Prey. However, Poison Ivy went on to betray the team, along with Batgirl and blackmailed them into helping her with her Eco-terrorism. She was eventually stopped by Katana and booted off the team. Poison Ivy pops us later in Detective Comics, using her plant-based mental-suggestion powers to manipulate Clayface into believing they were husband and wife. Clayface therefore became her enforcer.
Botanist Dr. Pamela Lillian Isley was transformed into a plant-human hybrid by a science experiment gone wrong. With chlorophyll flowing through her veins instead of blood, she developed a toxic touch and a pheromone-fueled talent for seduction. Her crimes became more ecologically focused as she had increasingly abandoned her human side and identified more with the natural world. Her unique brand of eco-terrorism often put her into conflict with Batman, whose iron will usually protected him from her seductive powers. After she took refuge in a vine-covered stronghold, Ivy kept humanity away rather than participated in the gang wars of Arkham City. Her presence would go unnoticed until Catwoman sought her out. There, she began plotting destruction for Gotham.
