Ping rapture driver
By Ping rapture driver January 1, in Equipment. Was cleaning out the basement and found my old Ping Rapture driver. Decided to throw it in my bag just for fun and I quickly remembered why I loved that thing so much.
But do the premium looks translate to premium performance? Is the Ping Rapture driver still worth it sixteen years later? The Ping Rapture is a composite driver. Nowadays, you sort of see this kind of design in almost all premium drivers. The idea of the composite design was to use an ultra-lightweight material and couple it with a stable material. The desired result is extra speed and distance.

The Ping Rapture Driver uses carbon composite and titanium in a powerful and forgiving head designed to be easy to hit, long and high fl ying. The Rapture looks nice too and sounds pure at impact due to acoustic engineering. Pro Verdict: A good looking solid driver which produced impressive stats for me although I still prefer its better and cheaper! G10 sister. Ordered one of these after a fitting in January to replace my G5 Driver of which the face had split just 3 months after purchase Was not happy about that! Got the Rapture with the VS Proto 65X shaft and was fitted with it purely because upon test at Gainsborough I was knocking the balls out of the range into the main road with it. I'm a pure distance junkie, wasn't too worried about the few draws or fades I hit just how far it went. Worked very well that day on their range. Upon receipt of the club I had some mixed results with it. I had some good shots and good rounds with it, but also had some horrible days. Mostly the horrible days were on occasions where it was rather windy.

The new Ping Rapture V2 Driver has a cc head which has been manufactured out of titanium and tungsten, while external tungsten weight pads help make it more forgiving and lower the spin rate. For the techies, the crescent-shape tungsten weight pads at the back of the titanium head move the CG lower and deeper which helps to optimise launch off the face, and the perimeter weighting means this is fantastically forgiving. Launched last September, the club also features a taller face of variable thickness, designed to increase ball speeds from a bigger face area. But then lots of them do something similar: what set this aside as our best on test? Well, for one it looks like a proper driver! This is a club that somehow manages to look futuristic and traditional at the same time.
Even into a breeze the Rapture V2 produced high-flying, long drives. We felt the lime green alignment aid was more distracting than necessary, but this did not take away from the high levels of forgiveness on offer. Why you can trust Golf Monthly Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test. Throughout the new Rapture V2 range tungsten is strategically placed to improve performance. The driver has a titanium body with weights located near the heel and toe to reduce spin and produce longer drives.

Nothin fancy
The idea of the composite design was to use an ultra-lightweight material and couple it with a stable material. This is the second Ping Rapture Driver I have owned. Sweet spot the size of a oblong dime. Certainly I prefer my G10 much more. I had a silver crown black faced that I played until she cracked. I hope not. Both were extremely lo. Decided to throw it in my bag just for fun and I quickly remembered why I loved that thing so much. But when I was off, it was "break out the 3-wood" time. As of today, it hasn't been available anywhere that I could find.
The look and feel of the club is very similar to the excellent Ping G5, but that is where the similarities end. Ping have 'maxxed-out' on all the available technologies for the Rapture range and the driver is no exception.
This is a club that somehow manages to look futuristic and traditional at the same time. Playing off 22 I wouldn't call myself a consistand driver off the tee but the ball not only went straight! Upon receipt of the club I had some mixed results with it. What we say More of a record than you think as I have always bought cast offs from mates before but Rapture rules in my book well done Ping. With one exception. Picked By easyyy , Thursday at AM. NewGrip Dont hesitate to buy one! Miss it a bit and it literally feels like poo poo smeared all over your arm, then taking a long, slow inhale thru the nostrils. But for high handicappers with moderate tempos, this should not be a problem at all. The G5 seemed to be the one for me until he handed me the rapture.
I agree with told all above. We can communicate on this theme. Here or in PM.
