This is a manga that, if manga were more widely regarded and acclaimed as an artistic medium, oyasumi punpun myanimelist, could hold itself up against literary and cinematic masterpieces. I don't really know how to describe the ending, I personally think that the ending could have been a lot more better than it was.

Of course, this is a formal foundation for basic determinations, but it is important to emphasize how conscious the author is when it comes to plotting an organic and truly real narrative. I feel like there's a lot of stringing along of the reader to keep reading and get to the next part in the story, but instead, it just gives me TONS of pointless information about some background characters that never really matter. Reading it is like Chemotherapy; I went into this with high hopes for a brutal and bleak masterpiece. More reviews by Derl88 1. As the story progresses, he falls farther and farther away from how he used to be as a cheerful child who dreamed of becoming a scientist in space. This is completely okay of course. I've never had a friend like Aiko, who shares the same sort of brokenness that I had and wants to run away from it all. There is no variety; nothing to keep a reader interested or wanting to read on once the over-use of certain panels and page layouts becomes apparent. At the beginning, he is shown to be a crudely-drawn ambiguous bird-like figure. I caught some of the allegories and symbolism, but at the same time I felt there was a lot that just went completely over my head. The whole bird thing is, in my opinion, a way for the reader to have no pre conceptions about the mc, as you really have no idea what he looks like.
Many stories, many art styles, many genres and demographics. This stack also includes manga that are not listed as "Psychological" in mal database but they still have psychological elements in them E.
And afterwards Punpun and Aiko and Seki and Harumi and Sachi and Midori and Yuuichi are all real live breathing moving figments that live and breathe in your head because of how all their troubles and worries and actions seems to just absolutely strike this indefinable deep chord within you. Oyasumi punpun does the latter. Especially towards the end of the manga, there is a clear pattern of a character ending up in a sad situation while having an inner monologue about the meaning of life. Aiko, to him, is a symbol of perfection. Oct 19, AM. The characters are very likeable, and well developed. Despite the story feeling so life-like, there are plenty of absurd elements. The manga was lacking any type of freshness and kept a monotonous depressive outlook on life throughout the whole story. Before you think " the manga is suppose to be unpleasant blah, blah", I already know that, it made me quite sad that the things in that manga were all very real in the world we live in. While some aspects are unpredictable, it adds to the charm, keeping you hooked even if you think you've got it figured out. I also a bit respect Punpun's mom, because she say wise things, well I always saw her as a poor woman, not so bad but I rather feel sorry for her, her sad life and bad fate etc. Informative 0.
