At Orange we have embraced this analogue technology and honed it to the point of perfection. The Clean channel is a vintage-inspired design, with plenty of sparkle. As the volume control increases, the amp begins to break up into bluesy crunch at higher settings with musical, touch sensitive overdrive. The Dirty channel takes its roots from the Rockerverb, covering a wide dynamic range with four stages of gain. Even at the limit, the Dirty channel remains tight and focused with sustain for days! Building on the platform of the CR60C, the larger CRC combo takes the same preamp circuitry and couples it to a Watt output section. The extra power yields even more clean headroom at high volumes, ideal for glassy arpeggiated chords.

What's not to love?! When it comes to Orange amps, their reputation is pretty grand. They know how to make some of the best contemporary models around, but can also offer up solid-state designs, too. With one-hundred and twenty watts of power, you can expect quite the emphatic eruption. Their focus and efforts went into creating the standard two-channel layout sound as perfect as they possibly could. The rear possesses an effects loop — a port that allows both the channel and reverb footswitch. Nothing is too complex to work with — no awkward buttons or anything confusing like that to deal with.

The dirty channel use a circuit based on four stages of gain and a three band EQ which provide the player with a wide pallet of over-driven and distorted sounds. My only major gripe with the amp and that's probably just my particular one is how noisy the dirty channel gets. Taking over where the clean mode leaves off, the dirty channel - armed with four gain stages to the clean channel's two - can transport you from Free to Slipknot with just a twist of the gain and middle controls.
