Your Duplicants , your plants and your items will suffer and break if their temperature is too high or too low. The environment can get warmer through items that produce heat, creeps through walls and resources, even your Duplicants produce and spread some heat by mere existence. Similarly Chilliness can spread by air exchange or heat spreading towards colder regions.

I've been playing ONI for about two weeks, and the biggest limiting factor for me has been temperature management. Realizing the game was in development for a while and many YouTube videos were made during that time, is there a recommended guide--either YT vid or webpage--for temperature management? There are just so many ways to manage temperatures and so many different priorities you might have. How advanced or basic are you right now? Is this about preventing heat death on an easy gamestart with lots of wiggle room terra - arboria or just figuring out how to get by on a difficult gamestart volcanea - oasis? For a more advanced scenario where the player has to use thermal properties of different materials to get by, along with a healthy dose of heat deletion, one series to watch is brothgar's surviving oasis series. He is a bit of a perpetual noob doesn't come close to optimizing anything but he also is an engineer by trade so gets into some pretty advanced stuff. For right now, it's about preventing heat death. I've only played so far on Terra as "No Sweat. To get started with heat management in any base you'll want to use liquid piping and insulated tile
I have never insulated my whole base, not even on Volcanea with magma channels.
The unit costs of die-cast and injection-moulded articles are essentially determined by the mould temperature control! The reason for this is the direct influence of mould temperature control on process stability, product quality and cycle time. Conventional continuous temperature control systems usually extend cycle times unnecessarily, do not allow product quality to be monitored and are not a safety factor with regard to process stability. With this system technology, the production process is managed in such a way as to ensure process stability for the entire batch with the shortest possible cycle times and permanent process monitoring for production towards zero defects. The best product innovations only fully exploit their potential if the manufacturing process is optimally managed.

Heat transfer is an important mechanic in the game, but one that is not well understood by most players. Every object in contact with another object of a different temperature will either transfer some heat to it or accept some of its heat. Amount of heat transferred depends on temperature difference between the objects, heat conductivity of materials that make up the objects in contact, but also heat capacity of both objects, and thickness of the more isolated object. Heat transfer is multiplied by the minimum of thermal conductivities of both objects except for non-insulated pipes and buildings.

Temperature Management plays a huge role in every aspect of Oxygen Not Included. Whether it is the plants or the duplicants , all of them depends on the temperature being perfect for them. A little too cold or too hot temperature shift can cost you your plants, items, and duplicants. Your duplicants, items, resources, and the biome itself — everything plays its part in affecting the temperature of the environment.

Water has good mass and SHC, but limited by its narrow state transition temperatures. You build a refinery and run that for 66 seconds, and then you build a polymer press and run it for seconds. Oh Kerbin, I miss Kerbin so much. There are buildings that also help, but managing those are also a subject of their own. So I rebuilt it on a copper volcano and that helps except it goes dorman. As an ONi large scale industrialist player it is my favourite starting choice. This property defines how quickly heat can be exchanged between two objects where walls, resources, gas, liquids, plants and items all are objects. Use those links :. The heat energy erasure happens in cases where inputs' THC is above the outputs' THC, and tends to get more potent with higher temperatures.

So I built the other nearby to cool the water, but it required so much energy I couldn't afford it. Thanks :. Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. So far there is plenty of time. This problem is the easiest to handle. Another way to cool the base is to use cool slush geyser or cool salt slush geyser. I've been playing ONI for about two weeks, and the biggest limiting factor for me has been temperature management. You get five cold biomes. Conventional continuous temperature control systems usually extend cycle times unnecessarily, do not allow product quality to be monitored and are not a safety factor with regard to process stability. In this game, a Tile is considered to be one meter high and wide. In the Launch Update , the majority of buildings were given temperature floors for their outputs, instead of a fixed temperature or one set by the temperature of the building itself.
