Zek was simply not powerful enough to defeat Ifrit, even when wielding the Omniblade, so Crunky created Z'or'aq'ith to wield the omniblade and defeat Ifrit and kill the Beast Primordial. The Beast Primordial could not be killed, though, instead its seven severed heads became what is now known as the Divine Beasts.
