It's been a long time since I blogged but I think it's fine time to get back into it and this seemed to be a useful start. My job for the last few years has been in the electrical industry, specifically dealing ns outage map electrical distribution for Alberta in Canada.

A common question following a large storm event is about our restoration priorities. We restore power in a specific order starting with any emergency safety concerns. Then we restore power to the substations and main power lines that bring electricity from power plants to our towns and cities. Next, we repair power lines that will restore power to the greatest number of customers in the least amount of time, including high density buildings or neighbourhoods. Once these repairs are made, crews restore power to smaller groups of customers and individuals. The most common cause of power outages in Nova Scotia is trees interfering with power lines, usually during high wind conditions.

Our outage map shows you up-to-date information about power outages affecting Nova Scotia Power customers. Access Menu: Use this menu to find the total number of outages, how many customers are impacted, and when the map was last updated, the legend, a summary table, options for saving your view and more. Show My Location: If you give permission to share your location on the device or browser you are using, this button will show your current location on the map.
