Born to a family of farmers, Nong-O was raised in extreme poverty and began his Muay Thai career at the tender age of 9. He started training after watching his neighbor hitting a heavy bag, and he was so eager to compete that he had his first bout just one month later. After a few years of sharpening his skills, he made the difficult decision to leave home for Bangkok when he was 14 years old to pursue Muay Thai full-time, both living and training at his camp. Nong-O made his first appearance at the famed Rajadamnern Stadium a year later, winning a decision in an undercard bout. The Thai icon defended the gold seven times and even knocked out five straight challengers. Nong-O surrendered the belt to British superstar Jonathan Haggerty in April , but he is undoubtedly eager to use that setback to push himself forward.

As of December he is the number 6 pound-for-pound fighter in the world according to The Nation. He had his first fight at the age of 9. He became interested in Muay Thai when he saw one of his neighbors training. Nong-O was invited to train, and after a month of training he had his first fight. He won by decision after five rounds. He won by TKO when the referee stopped the contest after he knocked Suehiro down twice with a right hook and left hook during first round. After the contest, he was given a bunch of flowers by Shinya Aoki. On November 8, , he fought against Trijak Sitjomtrai in Japan. Trijak was the current champion at featherweight sanctioned by the Professional Boxing Association of Thailand, but Nong-O won by majority decision after five rounds.
