New londo ruins
These haunted, dark and initially flooded ruins are located directly beneath the Firelink Shrine and are the haunt of cursed souls.
If I go to Ghost town I get mobbed and am just not getting far. Where am I going wrong? Or should I head into the catacombs next before I do Ghost town? I have a divine sword something or other so I can fight the skellingtons there too but I just seem to be getting rinsed out in both places. The other problem I have is the bonfire at Firelink is out and to get to either level is a longer run which is becoming annoying. How do I relight the bonfire, if at all?
New londo ruins
Go to the bottom of Firelink Shrine and take the elevator down to the ruins. Before you cross the long wooden bridge into the ruins proper, make sure you have at least two Transient Curses stocked you can buy them from the merchant inside the aqueduct or find them on the corpse in a pot just before the first wooden bridge leading into the ruins. Use of this item allows you to use any weapon to deal damage to ghosts for a limited time. Just be warned that a trio of ghosts will spawn when you cross the bridge, so hurry across and attack them from safer ground. Now go up the steps you saw before. Continue on, being careful of ghosts, until you descend a spiral staircase. At the bottom, go forward and grab the Parrying Dagger from the corpse, then head back towards the stairs and take a left. Run past the fog door and loot the corpse you find for a couple more Transient Curses. Pass through the fog door. Run up the stairs and kick down the ladder.
So now going to just run past the lightning demon
To get to the ruins, go down the stairs near the bonfire at the Firelink shrine past the Fire Keeper and go down the elevator. If you didn't activate the elevator yet, you need to warp to Blighttown and go up the ladders next to the water wheel. When you reach the top, go across the plank to the ruins and into the building and pull the switch. The Ruins are full of Ghosts that can only be defeated with a cursed weapon or if you are cursed yourself. Using Transient Curses is the most practical way of navigating the Ruins, but you run the risk of having the item's effect run out while you're in the middle of a battle. Using a cursed weapon works, but it forces you to equip yourself with something that is most likely not the most powerful weapon in your arsenal. Finally, you can go to the Depths and get cursed by a Basilisk, but that means you'll have to do your spelunking at half health.
With the water lowered, there are a number of ways to access the area:. Shortly after exiting the doorway of the elevator, a new enemy will emerge for the first time, since the flooding - Darkwraith Knight. This is the standard enemy of the Lower New Londo Ruins , meaning you're set to encounter several of them as you explore. That being said, here's a few things to know about the Darkwraith Knights :. Traverse The Fog pt 1 - After your first Darkwraith Knight , on your right are the seal doors to the Valley of Drakes ; but we are going left. Head into the ruined doorway and up the stairs into a wooden structure. In this structure, head right to find a door that will lead you to a Large Soul of a Proud Knight and another Darkwraith Knight , in the room on the left. Head into that room to find a fog gate. Slimy Mess - After traversing the fog gate the first being immediately on your right as you walk inside. Take a few steps forward before you're standing level with the wooden wall on the right and move back to towards the fog gate.

Head back to the bonfire in the cave near the bottom of Darkroot Basin. Go to the back of the passage and take the elevator down to the entrance of the Valley of the Drakes. This relatively small area is populated by a family of tough Wyverns. These dragons have high HP and spit electricity that will make quick work of anyone unfortunate enough to be standing in front of it. The only way to combat these beasts is by engaging them one at a time and keeping your distance.

The first one you literally have to walk in, walk out, and wait for them to walk forward, then try and hit them all at once. He's not overly hard but if you're a melee character he does parry your attacks and do good damage with a stab especially if you're cursed. I did end up "figuring it out", but honestly some sort of gating would have been appreciated -- the fact that I lack the proper items to get through without killing that wizard on the roof and the game just let me go there to a dead end is pretty lame. Break it with a weapon and cross the bridge beyond to find a Titanite Chunk.
