It is an annual event that takes place during the second week of October. The festival has achieved notable prestige and prominence in Mexico as a result of its outreach and growth. It is rapidly becoming known in other parts of the world for its uniqueness and quality. In , the award will be presented to Robert Redford. Once the activities in Morelia have ended, the festival presents the winning short films, documentaries and feature films, as well as a careful selection of films shown outside of competition, at different Mexico City venues. The 21st edition of the Morelia Film Festival will take place from Oct. This year's festival includes 96 works across the four programs. The winning feature, as well as the winners for documentary feature, short, and animated short, are eligible for the 96th Oscars. See the full Official Selection lineup here. FICM will also host a selection of international and national premieres, as well as a presentation of films out of the Cannes Film Festival's Critics' Week. Additionally, the festival will honor Oscar winner Jodie Foster with the UNAM Film Archive Medal to "acknowledge figures whose work has enriched world film heritage, in all its aspects" and the Artistic Excellence Award in recognition of her extraordinary career.
