Alaina: I got into true crime mainly through horror [movies] and, like, scary things because that's always been my thing. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark made me realize that I like spooky stuff. That book totally unhinged the door and then once I started reading more horror stories, I noticed a lot of overlap with true crime. So all of a sudden, I started veering into the genre and then I just couldn't stop. I think it was really, like, the forensic pathology of it all that really drew me in [ Writer's note: In case you don't know, Alaina is an autopsy tech as well as a true crime podcast cohost ] and also And when Ash was born, I got her into the witchy stuff and the horror stuff and the true crime stuff really early — we grew up as sisters and hang out all the time.
