The key is that you use the same wire from the negative terminal on the receiver to the negative terminal on the speaker, and use the same wire for the positive terminal on the receiver to the positive terminal on the speaker as well. You should just use the wire with the black marking on it as negative, it is there so you can remember which wire you designated as negative and which as positive, so you will know which is which when you are hooking them up to your receiver and speakers. I always mess that up and think the wire means something..
