Rising to the rank of Jedi Knight during the conflict, she served with distinction under the command of her fellow Crusaders Revan and Malak and was eventually commissioned as a General in the Republic Military.

Meetra Surik was a charismatic female human Jedi Master who, while still a Jedi Knight at the time, followed Revan and Malak to war against the Mandalorians, in defiance of the Jedi Council. Because of this she was exiled from the Jedi High Council and came to be known as the " Jedi Exile ". Just prior to Revan and Malak's fall to the dark side and the Jedi Civil War , Surik returned to Republic space to face trial with the Jedi Council and was stripped of her connection to the Force, exiled from the Order and spent several years wandering the galaxy. The near extermination of the Jedi Order at the hands of the Sith Triumvirate resulted in her reconnecting to the Force and leading a desperate fight to stop the Sith. During her mission to stop the Sith, she trained the Jedi that would eventually rebuild the Order and restore peace to the galaxy. She then returned to the Unknown regions to find and aid Revan in his fight against the Sith Empire. Surik joined the Revanchists , along with many fellow Jedi, to aid the Republic against the Mandalorian invasion. During this conflict the exile developed into an excellent strategist and tactician and rose to the rank of Jedi Knight and a General witin the Republic Military. It was as a General that she led the Republic forces to a costly but important victory against the Mandalorian stronghold on Onderon's junglemoon Dxun, a victory that would decide the outcome of the war and set the stage for the next and final battle of the Mandalorian Wars, the battle of Malachor V. The Battle of Malachor V was a trap.

She made it her personal mission to help him and protect him until he would be ready to fight her master, Darth Nihilus, mitra surik. Although Meetra has yet to appear in new Star Wars stories, it is strongly implied that mitra surik still exists in canon.

In this trial, a Jedi General of the Mandalorian Wars was exiled from the Jedi Order , and sent to wander the galaxy far from the battlegrounds where she fought, in order to achieve true understanding of what she had wrought at Malachor V in the close of the conflict. Meetra Surik was since often known as the Jedi Exile. According to Kavar, at the time of the trial, they had just learned that Revan had betrayed them, and that he was returning from the Unknown Regions at the head of a Sith armada.

The stories of the Jedi and Sith are some of the most interesting in all of Star Wars. She is the player character, and in experiencing her story, Star Wars fans are treated to a deeply philosophical look at the Force, its Light and Dark sides, and those who use each. A very nuanced character, Meetra Surik is a character that every Star Wars fan ought to get a little familiar with, from her origins to the legacy she left behind. At an early age, Meetra Surik was discovered as a Force-sensitive being and subsequently taken in by the Jedi Order for training.

During Surik's journey, Onderon, a recent member of the Republic and supplier of much of the wildlife that was used for the reconstruction of Telos, was plagued by a civil war between factions following the current ruler, Queen Talia, and a group of separatists led by General Vaklu, who had secretly allied with the Sith. During this conflict the exile developed into an excellent strategist and tactician and rose to the rank of Jedi Knight and a General witin the Republic Military. Having re-established her previous sentence of exile, they attempted to strip her of the Force, but before they could finish, Kreia stormed into the meeting to save Surik at the last moment. But it wasn't until she had challenged Surik, and was spared, that she came into his service. With help from Canderous Ordo, his Mandalorians, and Nihilus' old pupil Visas Marr, Surik stopped the Sith from sabotaging the station's fuel supply and infultrated the Dark Lord's flagship, the Ravager. Kreia destroyed the High Council before they could close a wound in the Force which they identified as the Exile. Enraged that Surik was not letting go, Kreia continued to battle by animating three lightsabers to do battle for her through the Force, until Surik had no choice but to strike her down. She watched silently from the bridge of her command ship as the generator crushed both the Republic and Mandalorian forces caught in its destructive wake. Before the arrival of Azkul's men to the battlefield, Surik bolstered Khoonda's defenses by persuading several civilians to join the Khoonda militia, healing those of the militia who were injured, planting more mines in the surrounding fields, and repairing damaged gun turrets and medical and combat droids. When the Mandalorians were in position Surik gave the command to activate the Mass Shadow Generator , a superweapon that created a gravitational vortex that crushed the planet and pulled anything close into it. In , The New Essential Guide to Droids established the Exile as a female, using the term "heroine" and female pronouns in a number of entries on droids that appeared in The Sith Lords. Meetra's actions during the battle of Malachor V would come to haunt her for years to come. After a Telosian investigation proved their innocence, they were asked by Lieutenant Dol Grenn to stay on-station until the Republic's inquiry was complete. From the moment Marr sensed Surik across space, she recognized that there was someone in the universe who felt the same spiritual emptiness that she felt, someone who had suffered and lost everything they had ever loved, just as she had. He had seized upon the opportunity to exterminate every member of the Dark Council, as well as to declare martial law on the planet until the situation was resolved. She traveled to Dxun, where Kelborn told her that Vaklu met with the Council of Lords, and had them declare Queen Talia , who was his cousin, guilty of treason. Once all of the Jedi Masters had been found, Surik went back to Dantooine to unite them against the Sith. Stop him. After the war ended, Vaklu was executed, and Onderon remained with the Republic. During these sequences, much of her character was revealed, determined by her choices. The Ebon Hawk was able to land on Dromund Kaas without incident; the capital of the Sith Empire evidently believing itself invulnerable to attack or infiltration, since the Empire had been unknown to the Republic for over a millennium.
