Mission Mart, located in the Bayers Lake Business Park, is the first of many projects Souls Harbour hopes will help expand their reach into other areas of the province. The 17,square-foot retail space will fundraise by selling donated clothing, accessories, small appliances and furniture at affordable prices. Porter says the location will double as a job training centre for adults with disabilities and people who struggle with addiction and mental illness. As the morning went on, volunteers walked through aisles full of clothing, shoes and household goods, helping approximately 75 customers navigate the store in the first half-hour. Baker makes jewelry that she donates to the store, and Souls Harbour is helping her out a bit to cover the cost of production. The land that Mission Mart was built on was developed and donated by Besim Halef. He says it is his way to give back to the community. They welcome any potential volunteers who can spare four hours per week. The retail store space is bright and airy, with clearly marked sections ranging from men's, women's and children's clothing to household items, books, bedding, electronics and furniture. Mission Mart is run almost entirely by volunteers and sends per cent of its proceeds to Souls Harbour charity. The facility boasts 17, square feet of new retail space on Susie Lake Cres.

The people behind Souls Harbour Rescue Mission are just over a week away from the grand opening of their latest endeavour. All of the proceeds will go to Souls Harbour Rescue Mission drop-in centres which helps the hungry, homeless, addicted and abused in Halifax, Bridgewater and soon Truro.

We offer free food, clothing, toiletries and household items. Holiday Dinners 4 times a year, we serve up to men, women, and families from our community a 3-course meal.
