The Minions are small, yellow, capsule shaped creatures, who have one or two eyes that were created by Phineas and Ferb co-creator, Dan Povenmire. They are the deutertagonists in the Despicable Me series, as well as the official mascots for Illumination. They bring much of the comedy in the film, and they are known as the scene-stealer of the movie.

In the movie, Gru attempts to join the supervillain supergroup the Vicious 6, but instead, incurs their wrath. In one of the scenes shown in the trailer, Gru is kidnapped by Wild and his henchmen. Every supervillain team needs a leader. It is unclear what her end goal is but the trailer shows her leading the team to hunt Gru after he steals a mysterious medallion from them. Belle's team appears to come from all walks of life. John's gimmick appears to be that he likes crabs as he has a robotic hand that is shaped like a claw.
Pierre Coffin is also reprising his role as the voice of the minions. While the gags are funny enough, minion movie characters suddenly gets exhausting after a while. These series of silly situations lead to the fate that we would all expect.
