I only took one photo of the finished model for some reason, minicraft 1/144, but I've added a couple of extra shots I took before I realised minicraft 1/144 I'd forgotten to paint the nose cone! Being a predominantly white aircraft, the blue background probably suits it better anyway. It's just a modpacks minecraft I was too lazy to take more photos once the nose cone was done!

This is a very simple kit, and I've already done quite a bit of assembly work. Here's the fuselage, with the insides painted black, the nose wheel bay fitted, and nose weights fixed in place with Blu-Tack:. That's a total of 6 kit parts! And for those of you wondering why I bother painting the interior of the fuselage in black, notice the difference in colour between the fuselage and the wings. The plastic is translucent enough that you can see a hint of the internal black colour on the outside.

Like airliners. Anyway, I decided, upon looking at the toy-like wheels, that this one would be built gear up as I did the B-1B. First thing I did was to glue the main gear doors onto the nacelles. The larger doors fit perfectly with no problem. The smaller ones fit in place, but they are flat vice the curved surface they should be. I then went to the nose gear doors. These do not fit at all well and so I had to use judicious amounts of glue to get them in place in each fuselage half. They are also not curved enough and a bit flat. Following this, I glued the upper and lower wing halves together and glued the small stubs in the bottom of each of the four gun turrets. These are poorly molded as they have flat sides and the guns themselves are conical instead of tubular. The next step was to glue in the 'cockpit'. This is basically a flap piece that prevents you from looking into the canopy and seeing through the nose gear well.

It will be very colorful when complete.

It is really hard to add to all the usual stuff I have said over the past year about this aircraft. I have always found it interesting that when one manufacturer brings out a kit that modelers have wanted for many years, all of a sudden we are 'inundated' by other kits of the same thing. One has to wonder what the marketing guys used for a barometer to see what we modelers would buy. Now as nice as all of these kits are, I can't see most of us building more than one of each. There is no difference at all in the parts of this kit and the previously issued KCG kit. In fact, there are parts missing off the sprues and those have been x'd out on the image above I used the image from the KCG kit rather than rescan the sprues. As nice as the Minicraft effort is, the kit is not really that highly detailed and suffers from toy-like wheels that have no detail in them at all and are too skinny.

The basic markings are good, but there are also three window decals, two in front and one under the tail on the left side. The fit on the sides of the engine mounts was OK, but did require attention from a seam scraper and miniscule amounts of filler. The worst aspect of this kit, far and away, are the propellers. Yep, really depends on the scheme for sure. This procedure was started by painting the upper fuselage and tail in white. All I had to do was use a medium to coarse sanding stick on both sides of the back of the clear part until it matched the fuselage on both sides. Once that was done, the rather poor excuses for cockpit frames were simply scribed in as a single line. Recommended Posts. One aircraft. They come off the backing sheet cleanly, and can be moved around to get alignment without tearing, folding, cracking or rolling. After trimming off the attachment lugs, I got the nose gear in there fairly well. It also has zero engine detail in the nacelles and the props are close, but no cigar. For a kit that always seems to be slated as being so inaccurate as to be unbuildable that's a superb build!! The nacelles are not that great a fit and the ones that house the landing gear are totally devoid of any detail or even enclosed wells. They're usually quite well designed, but come with a few caveats - including that they're printed on continuous film. I then went to the nose gear doors. The is pretty close to twice as long as the Electra, and would be about the same in wingspan too, I reckon. I'll leave it to the dedicated to fix that situation. I like it Kev.
