McLaren has confirmed to Autocar that it will be building a road-going version of its S GT4 racing model, dubbed R. Alongside a prominent rear spoiler and front splitter arrangement, there's a roof-mounted air scoop and new intakes cut out from the bonnet. A specific wheel design, most likely made from a super-light material such as magnesium, can also be seen. Whether that will be the race-bred coilover setup remains to be seen. Running the registration plate reveals that this R is powered by the same twin-turbo 3. The interior is yet to be seen, but expect faithful race-spec details such as bucket seats, six-point harnesses and the removal of non-essential hardware and features. It will be built in strictly limited numbers, although probably not as exclusively as the 10 S MSO X cars built for US customers, and is expected to cost significantly more than the LT. I think the biggest draw for me to the active system outside of all the things Mikeyb has said, mclaren 600r, is the fact that after you are done mclaren 600r yourself at a track, change your pants, flip some dials and its a magic carpet ride back home

Now they could easily fix all that with the LT variant the same way they fixed it in the LT improved suspension, even sharper steering, more downforce, better shifting, better programming and more power. With the float removed I also found LT to be far more enjoyable on the road too - especially bumpy and undulating roads. It's more expensive than a Porsche GT3 RS , but less exotic than a Ferrari Pista , which opens itself up for comparison with a whole host of hardcore supercars.
