Last year, I wrote about Bodacious Space Pirates, a very fun and entertaining show that I still quite like a lot. Now, as comes to a close, I am taking a look at another show, brought to us by the wonderful folks from Sentai Filmworks having since gotten a re-release a few months ago, with an all new English dub. Mayo Chiki, the shorthand version of the original title Mayoeru Shitsuji to Chikin na Ore to or The Stray Butler and Myself the Chicken , is naturally an adaptation of a light novel series written by Hajime Asano between and It is about the tale of Kinjiro Sakamachi, the somewhat typical high school Joe Schmoe MMC who lives with his younger sister and mother and his encounter of Konoe Subaru, a butler to Kanade Suzutsuki, the ojou-sama of the school. Subaru, who despite all external appearance, is actually a girl, as revealed very on the nose and awkwardly.

In the midst of having a little chat together, a big glass jar starts falling from a shelf above Konoe, Kinjiro throws himself on her to save her, her clothes come open and Kinjiro discovers the truth! OK, yes some guys do that, but a girl pretending to be a boy, going to the toilet in the gents? Then we have the glass jar falling for no reason whatsoever, and then the funniest moment of all: the wardrobe malfunction. Kinjiro pushes her to the floor i. I suppose we have to acknowledge that the animators show some restraint here. This all happens within the first ten minutes of the episode, and is essential for setting up the premise of the series. Leave a comment. It needs to have balance because you can have an original anime but if you fail at executing it and delivering the idea to the people watching then it sadly would suck. The Fanservice Debate: Mayo Chiki! I love this anime because it really gave a lot of time for character development. I especially like the first half of the anime where the two was first bound by a secret but they soon become friends and the feelings slowly boil over. The animation was great too. There was just enough to deliver a good generic laugh. There are 3 queer characters listed for this show; none are dead. Kinjirou started out as the usual guy in a harem but Subaru would discover how sweet and caring he is. Story The anime is about Kinjirou Sakamachi, who has gynophobia fear of women.
