This is the classic Marantz receiver in a beautiful wood case. Anyone familiar with vintage audio knows that Marantz built some of the best receivers of the time. And, actually, when restored, probably still stand up against the best out on the market today in terms of sound quality. It was near the top-of-the-line receiver in the Marantz lineup with the exception of the Model 19 which was still on the market at the time. They are also known for their horizontal wheel tuner, which they called the gyro-touch tuner, as opposed to the more common tuning knob. The Marantz has signal strength and tuning meters backlit with blue light as is the dial scale.

When it comes to vintage audio equipment, few models can hold a candle to the popularity and enduring appeal of the Marantz stereo receiver. Designed by the legendary audio engineer Sid Smith, the Marantz embodied the spirit of the s audio technology. It was well-regarded for its perfect blend of power, performance, and a strikingly beautiful design, hallmarked by the famous Marantz blue dial. The Marantz offered a robust 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms, which was quite impressive for its time. It had the capability to power most speakers of the era and even many modern speakers. Sound-wise, the Marantz was lauded for its warm, almost tube-like sound, a characteristic trait of Marantz receivers. It had a rich, detailed sound staging, and its ability to render the midrange frequencies was especially noteworthy.

I am 2 months into owning my Owned one in the early seventies. It has gone from owner to owner and has been used in so many different ways.
