See more photos…. It is in this context, along with the rise of fascist armies with Mussolini in charge October 28, that the military opted for the design of a new helmet. Many prototypes were considered and one Model was briefly produced. This model had many defects, quickly corrected in with the emergence of a new model immediately distributed to all the armed forces. The creator of the Model , and as a result of this new Model , was Guido Rosso, engineer who designed the project in the arsenal of Turin. This helmet had three large hollow rivets, serving to hold the revolutionary new liner design at the time. Indeed, this new liner, consisting of a leather skirt mounted on a flexible steel strapping, is kept in the helmet by three metal legs thus ensuring sufficient space between the head and the shell.

Original steel M33 Italian Army helmets back in stock after many years! We obtained a small cache of these helmets in very good condition complete with liner and chinstraps. Getting very difficult to obtain now! While they last! Not an adult sized helmet as in very small or for a child? And it is new production not from WW2. The helmet was a gift for my 10 year old son who has started a small collection of WW2 items as a summer project. Part of the educational process of the collecting is to do the research on items we acquire to determine their history, dates, places of manufacture etc.
