I'm looking to do a turbo build as my next project, not limited to challenge budget but looking to get good value for money and a dependable motor with enough hp to run low tens in a lb car. Exact car undecided but probably something early '50s so leaf spring rear with either slapper bars or Cal Tracs and slicks. Is it worth putting together with a budget converter and then dynoing to be able to give more accurate info to the converter company building the good one or just start with the good one and get it tweaked as necessary once the car is up and running? Does this seem like a realistic plan? Suggestions for the parts I should get or anything I've missed? Sounds like you already have the recipe down. Th you can get away with a good converter and a transgo hd2 kit.

Olivia in particular has always been into cars, engines and all things fast. What really sparked my interest specifically in engines was watching the Motor Trend show Engine Masters and just a real interest in learning how it all works. I love LS engines quite a bit and my boyfriend and I started getting into the hobby of going to the junkyard every weekend and seeing what they have. From there, it sparked an engine project. We wanted to see how budget conscious we could be in putting together a really cool combination or my El Camino.

From everything I've seen, the '68 SS hood has less clearance than other models. Its to be used on track, so needs to be able to last minutes at a time rather than seconds like on a strip, so not looking for all-out power.
