Link and Saria have been childhood friends. Link was raised as a Kokiri but is actually a Hylian and Saria seemed to at least understand that he was different from the others. Link never received a fairy because he is not a Kokiri so others looked down on him and the leader Mido often picked on him. Saria was the one who often stood up for him and stayed by his side. This actually caused Mido to pick on Link even more because he was jealous of their friendship. Link finally gets a fairy named Navi one day and Saria is very happy for him. She is even more happy for him after learning that the Great Deku Tree summoned him and is angry at Mido for stopping him but understand that Link needs equipment and tells him where to look. Saria is the only one to stand up with him. Link later leaves the forest and Saria sees him off while giving him an ocarina. Link later returns to the forest and finds Saria playing her ocarina outside of the Forest Temple. She teaches him her song which allows him to speak to her telepathically and cheer up the Goron leader Darunia. After obtaining the second spiritual stone, Link can ask Saria about the third stone and she will point him the right direction.

Link is the protagonist of the games and is always in charge of saving the world, which is usually Hyrule, from the malevolent force Ganon. Link meets Din in Oracle of Seasons after ending up in Holodrum. He wakes up with her dance troupe and learns that she has taken an interest in him. Din then invited Link to dance with her to which he does so nervously because he is not used to dancing. The evil general Onox then arrives and captures Din despite Link's efforts to protect her. He learns that she is actually the Oracle of Seasons and ends up going on a quest to save her. Ilia is very protective of both Link and his horse Epona. She gets mad when he finds an injury on Epona's leg which upsets him.

She is Link 's childhood friend from his years in the Kokiri Forest. She is well-liked amongst other Kokiri , particularly by their boss, Mido , whose dislike of Link might be partially explained by the latter's close friendship with Saria. Saria is the first of the Kokiri to greet Link after he receives Navi , his own Fairy. She congratulates him for finally finding a Fairy and is surprised to hear that the Great Deku Tree has summoned Link, as it is a great honor to speak with him. She gives him the Fairy Ocarina and asks him to come back and visit her.
