Latex subfigure
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5. This five-part series of articles uses a combination of video and textual descriptions to teach the basics of latex subfigure a thesis using LaTeX.
In this tutorial, we are going to see how to deal with subfigures in LaTeX. The use of subfigures is interesting when you have a set of related images since you can put all of them one next to the other and under the same caption, so that they produce a more organized and space-optimized document. The first LaTeX package written to deal with subfigures was the subfigure package. This package:. As its own documentation states. However, last updated on , this package is now considered obsolete and was superseded by the subfig package. The subfig package provides, basically, the same functionality.

Latex subfigure would be enough to have a working example of how to insert subfigures. Packages to create subfigures in LaTeX 1.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5. This five-part series of articles uses a combination of video and textual descriptions to teach the basics of writing a thesis using LaTeX. These tutorials were first published on the original ShareLateX blog site during August ; consequently, today's editor interface Overleaf has changed considerably due to the development of ShareLaTeX and the subsequent merger of ShareLaTeX and Overleaf. However, much of the content is still relevant and teaches you some basic LaTeX—skills and expertise that will apply across all platforms. In the previous post we looked at configuring the page layout of our thesis using the geometry and fancyhdr packages. In this post we're going to look at using images and tables.

Using LaTeX all pictures will be indexed automatically and tagged with successive numbers when using the figure environment and the graphicx package. The figure environment takes care of the numbering and positioning of the image within the document. It takes the image width as an option in brackets and the path to your image file. As a result smaller pictures are upscaled and larger pictures downscaled respectively. As I mentioned before the brackets contain the path to the image.

In this post we're going to look at using images and tables. First we are going to see which packages are needed to create subfigures , and some basic examples of how to actually create subfigures and how to adjust their positioning. This means that this package also provides the functionalities of the caption package, which is a package written to provide many ways to customize the captions in floating environments. We'll do an example with three images along side each other with separate captions and labels. The subfig package was, in turn, superseded by the more recent subcaption package , which extended its functionalities. This package:. Notice that I've halved the size of the image and used the position specifier h to put it in the document where the code is in the text. When writing a thesis you may want to include some slightly more complicated figures with multiple images. Subcaption LaTeX package The subfig package was, in turn, superseded by the more recent subcaption package , which extended its functionalities. We can further tune the postion and separation of the different images by controling the horizontal space that we put between them. These options are the same as the ones accepted by the minipage environment. Here's a basic example:.
I was recently asked an interesting question about how to place a sub-caption on top of a sub-figure. By default, sub-captions are produced below sub-figures.
We will deal next with the relation between hyperlinks and subfigures , seeing how to reference subfigures only without referencing the parent figure , with what we call subreferences. This concludes our discussion on images and tables. Again, we can give each subtable a label and caption as well as giving the whole table figure a label and caption. For this project, every image we use we will store in the images folder to keep everything tidy. As you can see, we obtained this output by simply stretching the height of every subfigure environment to 10pt and then placing each image in a different inner position. Observe, however, that this option only makes sense if the natural height of the environment is modified, because only in that case there is a place to freely position the contents. Continue Reading. This five-part series of articles uses a combination of video and textual descriptions to teach the basics of writing a thesis using LaTeX. However, on certain occasions, you may want to only reference the identifier of the subfigure , which is by default a letter. Notice that I've halved the size of the image and used the position specifier h to put it in the document where the code is in the text. When writing a thesis you may want to include some slightly more complicated figures with multiple images. As its own documentation states. We'll do an example with three images along side each other with separate captions and labels. Usually, the desired behavior is the one shown in the next illustration, so that as many figures as possible are printed on the same row.
I confirm. I join told all above. We can communicate on this theme. Here or in PM.
