La Maison du Steak is a French restaurant near Cambridge station. The food was very good, if maybe a little expensive, and it had good wine. Staff are efficient, rather than friendly, which probably represents the old France quite well! I have tried to go back twice, but it has been too full.

It has been on my list for years but for one reason or another it has always managed to escape me. La Maison Du Steak is a family run restaurant. You may remember their popular French cafe that unfortunately closed back in , Le Gros Frank. The restaurant is cosy and intimate with a stylish yet traditional interior. The menu is divided up into all the different selections of meat on offer, from fish, beef, chicken, and lamb.

I had crispy breaded and fried goat cheese, which came with a nice chutney and a large unconventional salad including quail egg, asparagus, sweet corn and radish, plus a bowl of gratin potato.

Will definitely be back! January Went out for a dinner here. The service was quite good. We both had had the Sirloin steak, which was quite nice. Took a star off for the sides and starters. Good value for money though. Nice friendly greeting and a chilled vibe inside.
