The Gain Mode Switch will work with all Harlot pedals built from November onwards and gives the Harlot the ability to footswitch between mode 2 and mode 3. It is a passive external box that plugs into the output of the Harlot with a TRS patch cable. The output of the Gain Mode Switch then connects to to the rest of your signal chain. Mode 2 on the Harlot is a medium gain overdive, while mode 3 offers substantially more gain. Having the ability to footswitch between these two modes is a useful performance feature. In addition, the Gain Mode Switch allows you to dial in the exact gain difference between modes 2 and 3, for more control of the higher gain sound.

The Harlot V3 is a hand-wired tube overdrive pedal using a single 12ax7 tube running at high voltage and a JFET transistor that is used to push the 12ax7 into overdrive. It covers mild, smooth tones through mid gain crunch to fairly aggressive rock tones. A second footswitch takes the Harlot into a higher gain mode which is great for increasing saturation and aggression for solo tones. The Harlot sounds natural, fat, dynamic and is very touch sensitive. The Gain and Volume controls set the amout of breakup overdrive and the output volume. While the Tone control rolls off high end, it is complemented by the "Lows" and "Highs" switch. Each of these mini toggle switches has three positions that incrementally increase the low end and high end respectively, providing a wide range of tonal responses. The "More" footswitch adds an additonal amount of gain to push the overdrive into more saturation, the exact amount being set by the "More" control above the footswitch. The Harlot has been updated with a 3-way "Lows" switch. The V2 Harlot still offers all the same sounds as the original Harlot, but also adds 2 poitions of bass cut. As the original Harlot is a relatively full sounding overdrive with plenty of low end, having the ability to cut bass makes it more verstaile. Reduced low end can be useful for bass heavy amps and for guitars with strong low end, especially when playing on the neck pickup.

The Minstrel V2 and V3 is a tube overdrive pedal that features a single 12ax7 tube running at high voltage. The tube is pushed into overdrive by a JFET transistor. Please note that the V2 is no longer in production - all new Minstrels will now be the V3 version as of December The Minstrel is a single channel tube overdrive pedal that offers many of the features of the Kingsley Jester in a smaller enclosure, but without the separate boost circuit. The V3 Minstrel also features a second footswitchable "More" function that adds gain to the pedal's base tone, as well as a new "Sizzle" switch for a brighter and more open tone. The hand wired circuitry and high quality construction are the same as that found in all the Kingsley tube pedals. A very wide variety of tones are available, from mild and smooth to punchy and dynamic to aggressive rock tones. In this way a real and dynamic tube sound is achieved, comparable to that of some of the finest tube amplifiers.

That being said, I use a clean amp as a pedal platform and by all accounts people rave about the KOT into an amp on the edge of break up. Mode 1 - darkest exactly the same as before Mode 2 - new Don't get me wrong- I love all Kingsleys. Have seen the KOT on a lot of pro boards, but never a Kingsley. This extra position now provides a tonal response that is somewhat brighter than mode 1 and somewhat darker than mode 2 and 3 on the regular Harlot. This means that you can now have the original high gain mode, but that you also now get two new tonal responses for the higher gain setting - slightly darker and darker still. From Jan - April we offered the Harlot Custom which had all the features of the Gain Mode Switch see above for info on this , but built right into the Harlot pedal itself.

Have seen the KOT on a lot of pro boards, but never a Kingsley. Also, cutting the bass and rolling back the highs with the tone control effectively gives the ability to emphasize midrange. Mode 1 - darkest exactly the same as before Mode 2 - new Categories November Bloody GAS. I've swung in the direction of a KOT again. Gassage Frets: Each of these mini toggle switches has three positions that incrementally increase the low end and high end respectively, providing a wide range of tonal responses. Note that the extra gain difference pot is located on the back of the pedal.
