Since Ben is an elf and Holly is a fairy, elves and fairies generally don't get along very well and are seen to be living far apart from each another in the Little Kingdom. However they don't seem to mind as they have a very close friendship despite their differences and despite the casual snarky comments their respective guardians Nanny Plum and Wise Old Elf throw at each other.
