Kenny and butters
Here, kenny and butters, I am going to give my opinions on all the South Park ships. S I respect all ships, if you do not agree I completely understand! Another extremely popular ship in the fandom. Again, I'm pretty neutral about this ship.
In "Going Native," the friendship between the two boys is truly developed. When the boys confront Butters for beating up Scott Malkinson, Butters suddenly explodes with anger and begins to tell them all off, calling all of them "fake and stuck-up" and that the only one among them who has any sense of dignity is Kenny. This prompts Cartman to suggest that Kenny is apparently Butters' best friend, and then teases Kenny by asking if the two of them are going to make out, annoying him. Butters later learns that he was born in Hawaii, and that he must go there for his Hapa Noa. When the other boys hear about this, they manage to convince Kenny to try and stop him. When Kenny arrives at the airport, he finds Butters crying, and its revealed that he isn't allowed on the plane. Kenny then tries to get Butters to come home, but he refuses.

Aside from Kenny, Butters is probably the only friend Cartman ever had. Butters has picked up a number of habits from Cartman both positive and negative, including transphobia and misogynism, but has also notably pushed back on occasion and stood up to Cartman. Butters' relationship with Kenny has been extremely close as well, with the latter often acting like a big brother towards him despite being younger. They both usually get along well, and Butters even drew him a picture of them in an airplane together when Kenny was dying. Their friendship truly evolved in "Going Native" though, when Butters admitted that Kenny's the only kid at school that has any dignity and isn't "fake or stuck-up. Kenny can also be seen holding Butters' hand throughout most of the episode much like he does with his younger sister, Karen. When he's not hanging out with his best friends, Butters can regularly be found hanging out with Stan, Kyle or Jimmy. All three have offered him advice on numerous occasions, and for the most part stick up for him when he's being bullied. Butters also has a friend named Dougie, who he met during a meteor shower. They tell him that he is Hawaiian royalty, as his grandparents were in Hawaii at the time of "The King" , and give him a " Mahalo Rewards Card" to assist him in completing his journey.
South Park just wrapped its 25th and shortest season, not including the ones that were cut short due to the COVID pandemic. While many enjoyed this season, the shorter length meant some characters were left out of the story. Kenny McCormick barely makes it in as a season regular as the episodes prefer to focus in on Stan and Cartman this time around. That's a shame because historically when Kenny gets a moment to shine he ends up owning the whole episode and turning in some of the funniest moments in the show's history. Kenny dies a lot, sometimes quite gruesomely. In the early seasons of the show, Kenny ended almost every episode dying in some horrific, albeit hilarious way. His death would then lead to the famous: "They killed, Kenny! In "Kenny Dies" the character kicks it for real this time. The episode has very little dialogue from Kenny himself but it's an excellent meta-commentary on the show up to that point.
