Voltage drop in secondary starting circuit Use this forum to discuss small engines, and the equipment or machinery that they power. This is the main section for any technical help posts and related questions. I diagnosed it rather quickly as a starter solenoid problem it's a solenoid shift starter. The solenoid energizing wire was hot, but the battery voltage wasn't always getting over to the starter side of the solenoid. Sometimes the starter engages, and sometimes you just hear a click. So instead of using a test light like I did the first time, I decided to get a volt meter out and take some actual readings. The solenoid energizing wire, when it's unhooked from the solenoid, gives me a reading of 12V. But when it's hooked up to the solenoid, when I turn the ignition key and the solenoid "clicks" but the starter doesn't engage, I get a reading of only 6V at the solenoid energizing terminal. Seems to me that if I check the circuit without the starter and get 12V, and then check the circuit with the starter and get 6V, the problem has to be in the starter, right? But I feel like I'm not remembering something. If so, I'm sure you guys here will be able to set me straight.

Kawasaki FXV carburetor problems are common and result from insufficient oil, faulty spark plugs, and built-up dirt and debris. After prolonged use, oil leaves residue in the carburetor, causing it to clog and malfunction. Regularly clean the carburetor to curb this problem. To do this, detach the carburetor by disconnecting it from the engine. Proceed to disassemble the carburetor parts like the float bowls and jets. Clean each component individually using carburetor cleaner.

So I start digging deeper and take shroud off and engine cover. The truth is that FXV engines have minor issues. Check if the alignment is correct and adjust it if not. Buying Advice. Re: Voltage drop in secondary starting circuit by KE4AVB » Fri Aug 03, pm This was problem on some JDs where the fix is to wire inline a relay as there was too much voltage drop in the trigger circuit which was causing starting problems. Cooling systems easily collect dust and dirt, leading to clogging. Unread Posts. Kawasaki FXV engines are prone to leaking. Kawasaki FXV engines may leak due to a worn-out bulb primer or broken fuel lines. Reduce the idling RPM, replace the defective screws and close an almost-open choke to reduce fuel consumption. One cylinder had a valve a little off, so I adjusted it to match the others. Check if the alignment is correct and adjust it if not. No compression or leak down. Fuel is high test, and we filled all other equipment with same fuel and no issues with any of them. Stick to the recommended high-quality fuel to curb this inconvenience. Contaminants like gasoline and water mix with diesel in the combustion chamber, producing white smoke.
