However, it should be mentioned that the resort does group transfers and I was not expecting this as it was not highlighted to me when I arranged it. This means you may be travelling with a large and noisy group who may or may not keep you waiting. Further, there weren't enough seats for all of us on the last day on the ferry. May I suggest to Pimalai to allow for private transfers as is done at Banyan Tree with choice of different luxury cars? The resort is not cheap though and our stay here came up to the same as when we stayed at the Banyan Tree, so be prepared to spend a fair bit if you are going to spend all your time and meals at the resort! The Ban Kan Tiang Bay beach is pretty good - fine, powdery sands no rocks on the Pimalai side and the waters were fairly clear. TIP: Ask the resort for a map of the resort grounds so you can decide on which villa you would like to stay in. There are beach front suites and there are villas with and without pools which are set on the higher grounds of the resort overlooking the hill slope and ocean - simply beautifu. Incredibly well positioned location. Clean, upmarket accommodation, big rooms, aircon, bar fridge, good shower, great pool, friendly, honest staff.

Since the Hotel is in the Kantiang of Lanta the most beautiful lonely beaches and jungle landscapes are within reach as well as everything else one could possibly need, kantiang.

Regularly voted as one of the best beaches in Thailand and indeed Asia, Kantiang Bay is located towards the southern end of Koh Lanta, a minute drive from Saladan Village. Kantiang Bay creates a perfect crescent shape to keep the Andaman Sea flat calm with crystal clear water. Looking up from the beach beyond the road, you will see the mountain range which provides breathtaking scenery around the bay. Even on a busy day, you may find yourself sharing the beach with only a handful of people. The quickest way to get to Kantiang Bay is by Express Transfer , which combines a minivan and speedboat to get you door to door from Krabi Airport to your Koh Lanta hotel.

No one in Bangkok will believe you are going to Koh Lanta. Onwards you'll trundle down dual carriageways, past trucks piled high with spiky pineapples and knobbly jackfruit, onto car ferries - heaving, lumbering, diesel-choking car ferries. Then the island itself, a single-track road, driving through low, shrubby palm groves, getting further and further away from the noise and the bright lights with every twist and curve. And that, there, is precisely the point. It's not as if Koh Lanta is some hidden secret paradise, an untouched spot where no one but the most intrepid backpacker has ever set foot. It's commonly regarded as one of the best islands in Thailand. It's also quite big. Lanta Yai, the main island there are more than 50 marine-park-protected little ones in the archipelago , is 30km from top to bottom, with a sandy fringe all along the west coast, a jungly spine down its middle and dramatic rockery to the east. But it is, in the grand scheme of Thai islands, deliciously unspoilt.

Lanta Marine Park View Resort. There are about 4 restaurants to choose from. We decided to take a look at one of the other rooms and decided that the little extra cost got us even more value. Only one small incident marred our impression of the staff - on the last day, as we were leaving the hotel one of the ladies claimed we stained two hand towels during our stay and wanted baht for each of the towels.
