There will be no handheld. This makes me feel like that scene in Rush Hour 2 where Carter fought that crazy female villain.

By Thomas Newton. The first port of call for any Xperia Play owner wanting to get their retro kicks. We also think that four quid for an old school PS1 game is just about right. As we mentioned in our review , certain games like FIFA 10 which comes pre-loaded are much more playable with the control pad. Normally because about a third of the touchscreen is taken up by your own stupid thumbs. Kristen Schaal explains it better here …. This is basically a folder which is automatically updated with all of your Android games see above.

The Xperia Play is a smartphone with elements of a handheld game console produced by Sony Ericsson. With the marketshare for dedicated handheld game consoles diminishing into the s due to the rapid expansion of smartphones with cheap downloadable games, Sony attempted to tackle the issue with two separate devices; a dedicated video game console with elements of a smartphone, called the PlayStation Vita , and a smartphone with elements of a handheld console, the Xperia Play. Originally rumored to be a "PlayStation Phone", the device shed the "PlayStation" branding in favor of the Xperia brand, running on the Android operating system. On February 13, , at Mobile World Congress MWC , it was announced that the device would be shipping globally in March , with a launch lineup of around 50 software titles. The device is a horizontally sliding phone with its original form resembling the Xperia X10 while the slider below resembles the slider of the PSP Go. The slider features a D-pad in an indented area on the left side, a set of standard PlayStation buttons , , and in an indented area on the right, a long rectangular touchpad in the middle, Start and Select buttons in an indented area on the bottom right corner, a Menu button on the bottom left corner, and two shoulder buttons L and R on the back of the device. The device runs on the Android 2. The device was said to feature games graphically within the range of similar portable devices [8] and plays these games via an application known as PlayStation Mobile. It changes the interface of the device from that of a phone to the XrossMediaBar , closely resembling that of the PlayStation Portable. In the early , the official Sony Magazine reported that "a new PSP-style phone is apparently in development".

Cant wait! Video Game Releases in March The display screen is bright but not too glaring even at maximum brightness, so I guess your eyes will not hurt even after long hours of gameplay. Wrong its not an awful idea. If they did both a new deidcated handheld and a remote play handheld then that would be great. A niche product that provides little to no value considering the Remote Play app handles this on almost any other device with an internet connection and a screen. It is definitely recommended for people like me who have big thumbs that are bound to block most parts of the screen when gaming on a smartphone. Stop complaining, which ya broke ass. Big surprise. The game pad also comes with analog pads, Start, Select and Menu buttons on the front and L R buttons on the back. Like Sony, we could have been a couple again, we could have had something special, but you done did something crazy. Constant internet access is a huge joke.

I find it hard to believe, and incredibly ridiculous if it actually happens. I have got a razer kishi v2 and i can remote play on my phone with that setup up but to be frank the mobile screen is way to small and it suffers lag. The product itself sounds like a terrible idea. A handheld to stream ps5 games too when downstairs with the wife will be ideal. I also got a steamdeck which i also use to remote play. Wait and see. Just the switch setup with bigger grips check! Wrong its not an awful idea. Sony is making mistakes steps left and right. A handheld that can only stream from a console and requires a constant internet connection?
