All of my work is made at my studio in New York and Connecticut. Each piece, whether wheel thrown, slab built, slip cast or made combining these methods, is designed by me and crafted and glazed by me or under my supervision. The oxidation firing to a durable stoneware temperature is also done in the studio. I have been working professionally in ceramics for 27 years. I am a founder of Tribeca Potters, a studio now in Long Island City shared by several other studio potters. My love of ceramics — particularly stoneware — comes from a simple respect for form and the unending ability of clay to respond to be abilities to create forms I find pleasing and functional.

In Vessels and Vanishing Points we feature the work of five artists who work in both 2-D and 3-D, making contemporary pieces where themes of convergence, perspective and symmetry emerge. Abstract painter Alexis Serio anchors each composition with a horizon line that suggests a landscape but are highly abstracted pieces with layers of shapes and colors both vivid and transparent that fit together and glide over one another into dreamlike and vast suggestions of an imagined land. Photographer Caleb Kenna captures unique views of Vermont from above through his drone photography. Some are sweeping views of the landscape and some become purely abstract compositions that are derived from natural and manmade patterns seen from above.
