John lewis bra fitting
I'm a bit disappointed I went to JL today to check my bra. I usually go to an independent store owned by a Mg5 wax and Peller trained fitter, and when I went was measured as 35 inches round the band. She told me either a 34f or 36e depending on the bra and since then I have worn a 34f and find them very comfortable, john lewis bra fitting.
The internet is littered with advice about how important it is to get your bra fitted properly in order for your clothes to sit nicely. Most are wearing a bra which is way too big at the back the band and the cup size will be much too small. As someone who has never had a bra fitted professionally before, I assumed learning my breast size was as easy as stripping off in front of someone once and knowing my measurements forever - right? Considering I went to six different high street shops and came back with four different measurements, seemingly not. Here, I didn't try on a single bra, but instead stood in the changing rooms in my pre-owned underwear and was measured with a fabric tape around my bust.

Having unravelled the mystery of bra sizing , we decided to put a few high street stores to the test — we sent two of our avid readers to a shopping mall, to conduct a review of the various bra fitting services offered. We had heard a lot of good things about Bravissimo, so we thought we would treat ourselves and start there. We were warmly welcomed by the store manager and sent off into a double changing room to be fitted immediately. I was somewhat sceptical, but we both dutifully took off our tops. My friend was in a 34C bra, but knew it was not a good fit, and I was in a 32E which, other than being ancient, I thought was pretty ok. Seconds later she returned, proffering a plain black bra, 32E, which fitted like a glove. We were both suitably impressed. Next was my turn and, while my friend was several sizes wrong, I still felt quite confident about my measurements. Until, that is, the assistant proclaimed me to be a 32G! Despite my friend being in bra heaven right in front of me, I seriously doubted her judgement this time, but once again, the first bra she produced was a perfect fit. Armed with masses of bras to try on, we bundled back into our changing room and, after a few minutes, the assistant knocked to see if we needed any further help. She then listed the brands which tended to come up bigger and changed those choices for a 32DD and 32FF respectively. In fact, we later discovered that Bravissimo bras come up smaller than most giving us the larger size; we opted for the smaller size in most brands, but usually had to increase the cup size for own labels, like Bravissimo and Debenhams.
One myth is the lower the letters, the smaller bust, which is not necessarily true.

John Lewis provide a free personal styling appointment in store or a virtual online appointment and after having mine I would definitely recommend it. I booked my appointment via the John Lewis website. Cancelling or rescheduling your appointment is super easy too, I had to reschedule mine a few times and I did so via the reminder text message link and again this is free. After having to reschedule a couple of times because Elsie was poorly and industrial action meaning I had to cancel some leave, I finally had my appointment. After making my way upstairs through the lovely perfume department, I was warmly welcomed at the styling hub by Amber. Amber and I had a quick chat about what I was wanting from the appointment, what prints I like, what I do for work, what colours I usually like, if I prefer trousers skirts or dresses and bras. Amber brought my bottle of water and a glass through and said to make myself comfortable while she pulled some clothes from the shop floor for me to look at and try on. Since covid, they no longer use the traditional tape measure, rather they do your bra fitting by sight. Amber checked my current bra which I was fitted for about 18 months ago and asked me about what styles I usually go for and then went to source nude and black t-shirt bras at my request.
