Japonais Bistro offers an extensive selection of dishes, all artfully plated and very aesthetically pleasing. The service was great, the restaurant space is modern, open and inviting. And the food… delicious! The one at Japonais bistro may be the best, thus far. I really enjoyed it overall. Compared to other places where the ponzu sauces can be too tarte, the one at Japonais Bistro was manageable. I grew a liking for pressed sushi when I went to Vancouver. Although nothing can beat Miku.. Japonais Bistro was one of the first places where I tried pressed sushi in Edmonton aside from Dorinku. Lastly, dessert. There was definitely no lack of matcha here. A great way to end off dinner. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience at Japonais Bistro. The food was tasty and the service was friendly and attentive.

A total crowd pleaser. We came in hot on the appetizer section, finding it difficult not to order almost one of everything.

Still the presentation here, as with all the other rolls we had except the Bakudan rolls, was great.

Our chefs create innovative and tasty dishes designed to make your mouth water and inspire you to try something new. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience at Japonais Bistro. My only complaint is the high prices for some dishes. Compared to other places where the ponzu sauces can be too tarte, the one at Japonais Bistro was manageable. If you're familiar with the black cod with miso of Nobu fame, this dish certainly captures some of that same magic. Japonais Bistro has a nicely-sized patio out front and entering the space you'll find a rather large room with long stretches of exposed brick and tons of grainy hardwood. I loved the buttery tuna, velvety creaminess from the mayo and cream cheese, and the crunch from the tempura. And honestly, I didn't miss the red wine at all. I love that they serve wagyu stone grilled at your table and think that they do a great job of knowing their audience by offering several beautifully prepared beef dishes. The menu does have a proper entree section and I was thisclose to ordering the lobster cream udon, which I'm sure would've been magical. The one at Japonais bistro may be the best, thus far. I was in Edmonton so I decided to stop by Japonais Bistro after hearing many good things. The restaurant has nice decor and is clean.
