Owned by Young Hun Cha, owner of the Sushi 1 chain, the bar opened in late , the flagship he hopes for a successful restaurant chain. Izakaya Ichi is a cool place to chill and hang out. When we dine there, we see lots of English language students and local workers, joined by a wide cross-section of diners at night times and hospitality workers eager to have some sustenance after work. How super cool is the ordering system! Each table has its own iPad with an easy to read illustrated menu app which you use to place an order. You get to look at your food before it even comes to the table! No problems with translation, how much items cost or even adding up the bill! Both are moreish! Izakaya Ichi is also a late night venue, with last food orders taken just before midnight. The Sparkling jelly sake? Definitely a cultural divide. The only reason we could see to move on would be to catch a movie.

Okay, if it is your first time stick to small plates. But avoid the shrimp unless you can afford it. If you like Thai or Indian curry then don't get it here. It is gravy with no kick, not yogurt or cream based. March First time here. Crabmeat taco with the eggplant shell was so good. Filet mignon wrapped in bacon were also good. Miso soup is bland. Coconut shrimp appetizer was OK. Coconut shrimp katsu curry was disappointing with more of a curry gravy and only 3 shrimp.
