Feb Posted by pennyandrusty. Although there are some fairly good sushi restaurants nearby such as Makoto and Asa Sushi, Stem is far from a simple sushi restaurant. The problem is that they only open for dinner service. And what a table it is… cute place settings with the teapots and chopstick rests. As with many izakaya-style restaurants, their menu is a bit overwhelming.

Book the large party room if you prefer some privacy! Overall the food was pretty interesting and esthetically pleasing. Weekly special korokke or croquette made with mashed potatoes, infused with crab and lobster. Nice velvety smoothness deep fried with panko. My bf thought so…. Yellow tail fish thinly sliced served with tobikos, cucumbers and chives with light wasabi vinaigrette … fresh and sweet yet slightly tangy… nom nom nom This was quite a refreshing dish…. Presented in a miniature wooden hot-pot box came a soy milk tasteless broth that lacked flavour and oomph. Vegetables some bok-choy, carrots, cabbage and other odds were chopped finely and raw…. Comes in 3 flavors: green tea, jasmine and earl grey. The best was hands down the earl-grey — rich is flavour, somewhat like a London Fog less sweet… perfect. The other two was just regular, nothing wow about it. The caramelized crust was just right. If you are a fan of Uni, you will really like it… Wild grain rice with egg, seafood, and yours truly the sea urchin. There is about 8 spoonfuls at most — share sparingly, better yet get one for yourself!

They are open late all week and are easily reachable by car.

The food were exceptional with large portions, you watch sushi master making sushi by sitting at the sushi bar. Wish they could hire more ppl as I waited for 20mins just to pay the bill. February I absolutely love this place. Great vibe, super friendly staff, and really really good sushi. Parking: Paid street parking along Kingsway.
