GoodTimes Entertainment, three years prior, had released Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Moviewhich was set in a separate continuity with different supporting characters. Several key personnel were retained from that movie: Kathleen Barr, the voice of Rudolph; Michael Aschner, the head writer; and Bill Kowalchuk, the director.

This production aired in and has been a rerun every December since. The one hour claymation production had so many memorable characters including Rudolph himself, the Abominable Snow Monster and Yukon Cornelius. As Rudolph and his friends made their journey, they were chased onto an ice sheet and set adrift to parts unknown. They came upon a secluded kingdom called The Island of Misfit Toys. This place was ruled by Moonracer, a benevolent flying lion who was King of this land. This group of characters is a collection of toys that just do not fit in because of their unique quirks or design flaws. When the visitors arrive, these toys break out into a song sharing their unique attributes that make them different.

Merry Christmas and all that stuff. Like, what is up with Hermes? Normally the Dentist chair raises up. But when he works on your teeth, would the chair go down, so he could see into your mouth? Why does he have a thick New York accent? Is that a normal accent in the north pole? But most of my questions come from the Island of Misfit Toys. So, I will try to come up with answers for my own questions, so begins another exciting article. The first toy we meet is a Jack in the Box named Charlie. This really makes him a misfit toy?

They are sentient toys who all have some strange quirk about them. Because of said quirks, these toys feel that there is no human child who could possibly want to play with them. As such, King Moonracer brings them to stay on the island until suitable owners can be found. In the special, Rudolph , Hermey , and Yukon Cornelius first encounter the Misfit Toys upon accidentally landing on their island. In the special's original broadcast, this was the toys' only scene, with the only resolution to their subplot being that Santa Claus promises to find homes for them after Rudolph tells him about the island, and later says that the island would be his first stop on his annual run that year.

Golden Books Family Entertainment was likewise retained as the production company. Rudolph, not satisfied with being a "novelty act" performing tricks with his nose, travels with Hermey, now a dentist, to the Island of Misfit Toys to give King Moonracer a root canal dental treatment. A storm sends Rudolph and Hermey to Castaway Cove where Rudolph considers having his nose made more normal-looking by a hippopotamus named Queen Camilla, being warned that if he gets a normal nose, he won't be able to lead the sleigh anymore on foggy nights which could put Santa's deliveries in potential danger. Meanwhile, the evil Toy Taker is stealing all of the toys from the island, including Santa's workshop, claiming that he's saving them from the inevitable fact that children eventually outgrow their toys and throw them away. Rudolph has a plan to foil the Toy Taker's by disguising themselves as toys. The Toy Taker's blimp arrives and manages to steal them along with the Misfit Toys, all except for Bumble, who is too big to fit into the blimp so he follows on a floating iceberg.

During the song, we are introduced to a nameless cowboy whose only fault is that he rides an ostrich instead of a horse. He then places him in the bed of Steven's new daughter who awakens and cuddles him. Scooter for Jimmy Try as I might, I have watched the scenes repeatedly and searched everywhere online and cannot find any issues with this scooter. This section needs expansion. Seems like a simple fix, but so be it.

This would definitely be an issue for a kid. I never really noticed half the stuff pointed out here. I would call that a depressing day, not a wonderful day! I think a pen knife and a little time would cure that quite nicely. I loved the article!
