Animated series have stood the test of time as show after show continues to be produced in a cartoon format. Animation brings several benefits as it allows writers to create shows and even worlds that wouldn't be possible to capture effectively in reality - The Dragon Prince is such a show. Focused around magic, dragons, elves, and all things mystical, the hit Netflix show has surpassed all expectations as it already has three seasons out with four more guaranteed to close out the series. That said, the show had to start somewhere and the first season did a great job of putting the series' best foot forward. The very first episode may have been the lowest-rated of the season, but it meant the series had nowhere to go but up. Introducing audiences to the world of Xadia, a narrator reveals that humans and elves are at war with one another due to the fact that humans killed the King of the Dragons and smashed the egg of the Dragon Prince completely unprovoked. In response, Moonshadow Elves prepare an attack on the King of the Humans whilst also declaring they're going to kill his son, Prince Ezran, as well. With the Moonshadow Elves preparing their assault on the Human Kingdom, an elf named Rayla hesitates when killing a human, prompting the other elves to think she isn't ready to join the attack. So, Rayla decides to infiltrate the castle herself and tries to kill Prince Ezran However, after trying to escape from her, the elf tracks the two brothers to a secret-lair, whereupon they discover the egg of the Dragon Prince, alive and well. With Callum and Ezran deciding to travel with Rayla to Xadia in order to return the egg of The Dragon Prince, it left the throne completely empty due to the Moonshadow Elves successfully killing the Human King. As a result, Viren tried to take control of the crown himself, only to be stopped by General Amaya, the boy's aunt, and the former King's sister-in-law. Meanwhile, Ezran, Callum, and Rayla make their way closer to Xadia and do so via boat, where Rayla admits that she's afraid of water especially after they get attacked by a gigantic sea monster. As stated, the Princes and Rayla were doing their best to make it to Xadia without any trouble, but they continued to face hardship after hardship. During this episode, the trio tries to traverse a gigantic snowy mountain, only for Ezran's pet glow-toad, Bait, to burp and cause an avalanche that sends them all tumbling toward a frozen lake.
