Card changes are the alteration of cards from their previous designs. When the need arises, Hearthstone' s designers make card changes that get implemented within patches.

The goal was to give pro players enough time to playtest it and prepare before they had to submit their decks. The patch gives a small nerf to Rainbow Mage and Enrage Warrior while buffing some weaker cards, as well as a few Excavate treasures. The update launches today.

In Hearthstone's Patch The developers are aiming to give a chance to certain deck archetypes before they rotate out of Standard. We also saw a lot of updates to Battlegrounds. Check out everything you need to know below! When talking about our first goal, to curb power outliers, Warlock is the primary clear outlier across almost all ranks. Ramp-style Druid is not a power outlier at most levels of play, but it is becoming a prevalent power and sentiment outlier at high Legend ranks. Titans were designed to be unique, cards with powerful effects that you can activate maybe a few times per game, not 10 times. Demon Hunter has had its ups and downs. While moving a card up a Tavern Tier usually weakens it, in this case we see this change more as a buff. This is because Tier 4 Tavern Spells have more copies in the pool than other Tiers, and because the Spellcraft pool becomes a lot stronger at Tier 4 with the inclusion of Deep Blues.

A buff is a card change that causes a card to become more effective or more powerful. The opposite of a buff is a nerf. In Hearthstone, buffs are not called for as often by players as nerfs, since cards that need buffs are usually not visible enough to gather attention in a particular meta. Therefore, buffs are usually requested for a variety of reasons, such as wanting an interesting but weak deck archetype to see play, or wanting to give boost to a struggling class. Developers agree that buffs in general are "low reward and high risk". Over-nerfed cards, however, don't usually create massive power spikes in decks, as the actual power of any particular deck isn't increased.

Patch Competitors throughout Azeroth are gathering in the Tavern for a gladiatorial contest to earn the favor of the Titans and their keepers. With over 30 new minions, 7 opponents, and slew of new Anomalies to master, the competition has never been fiercer! On August 22, Battlegrounds Season 4 will end and Season 5 will begin. That means rankings will reset, Battlegrounds Quests will be removed, minion pools will update, and the Battlegrounds Track will switch over. All rewards that were earned from the Season 4 Track, but not yet claimed, will automatically be claimed. Battlegrounds Season 5 introduces a chaotic new seasonal system: Anomalies!

Changing Aviana to 10 mana means it will no longer be possible to play Aviana and Kun the Forgotten King on the same turn without some additional help from cards like Innervate or The Coin. We just had a big infusion of cards with the mini-set, so this patch is just looking to address two major outliers after that card infusion.

We think it's really cool that Big Demon Hunter has finally become a competitive archetype, and we expect that the archetype will continue to see play after this slight adjustment. Dev Comment: The Wildseed package has been a fun addition to Hunter, but Stag Spirit Wildseed has been putting out more face damage than we intended. Unholy Frenzy. Increasing the mana cost of Extra Arms back to 3 should give room for other decks to challenge them early on, while leaving the powerful Priest minions and combos untouched. This change is both to address the deck's current state and anticipated relative power level after this patch. The game's beta saw changes made to cards far more frequently than is seen following full release, as well as the outright removal or replacement of several cards, something which has yet to be since the beta.
