Harbor freight trailer for motorcycle

The 40 to Phoenix ride was the first multi day trip I had ever taken on a motorcycle. I was unsure about how to pack clothes for such a trip but I think I did ok.

It started when a used 40x48 Harbor Freight Utility Trailer showed up in a neighborhood yard sale. Since then it's lead me to fall back in love with the Vanagon, and has itself, had a thorough rebuild. I was torn. Do I really need a trailer? Where would I even put it?

Has anybody done this? At most, two small bikes at once. Sometimes one bike. I will be hauling to ATV parks and out of town scooter events, sometimes on the freeway. So I got one of those free about a dozen years ago from a coworker. I stripped off the plywood floor and sides and added the sides. The floor is fence boards I had left over from a job at home.

This is my first instructable but I have posted this on some kayak forums with positive feedback so I wanted to post it here and enter it into the outdoors competition. I started with harbor freight - Lb. Capacity Utility Trailer, 40" x 49". In addition to the trailer kit here is what I used for this project —. First I started by assembling the kit to have a starting point, make sure you square the basic frame and check several times while you tighten since the entire build is based off this. After you are happy with this point throw away the instructions because now the fun begins! I wanted to add a brace to connect the tongue directly to the spring hangers so I added this.

The Harbor Freight folding trailer can be really helpful for motorcyclists. A lot of motorcyclists find it hard to get time off work, have little storage space, and financial constraints. It all makes a would-be traveling motorcyclist a little hesitant to get out of Dodge. Luckily you can pick up one of these Harbor Freight Folding Trailers for relatively cheap! The seats fold flat, even the front passenger, and I can easily fit a twin size air mattress in there. But what if I could have my cake, and eat it too?

I have a trunk organizer in the back of the van for loading up groceries into. JavaScript is disabled. Super happy with the build of this. This one took much lying on the ground looking at trailer combined with standing near trailer looking at trailer. Then I slide the rear tire to perfect center and block it in place. It's nice to go down the road with a solid system especially when your doing long distance inter Sounds like a really solid system. On the fence here. The big advantages to the trailer are cost, size for storage, and flexibly over a custom motorcycle trailer. One might not have issues after thousands of miles, until that one day. Only due to the NY salty winters did rust finally take it out, but after 8 or 9 years of use I felt I got my money's worth. How does it work? Top Contributors this Month View All. It has worked fine for 3 years with stock tires. Did I need a swivel hitch? It's hard to turn, and it's hard to GET to, but I battled on and bought it anyway.

.

First I purchased tires from Northern Tool which were a larger size and also claimed to be "high speed". I am just suggest keeping 12" and smaller wheels at or under 55 mph I think the max tire rating is 65 mph , the hubs on the smaller bolt pattern axles and 12" tires also typically aren't rated for higher speeds. I like your wheel chock I use a similar arrangement when I put my little bike in my truck bed. I can then just run that all the way from the tongue to out the back. I was torn. I know it costs as much as your trailer, but it is worth it I'm sure none of them are rated right at their maximum, like pounds will make the wheels fall off. Looking at the trailer itself, price for trusted axle, hubs, bearings and tires and creating a usable spare tire. Two I wired as brake lights and the other two as turn lights. I've had my trailer with the 12" wheels up to speeds of without any problems. After mounting the box, and throwing a bike on it for a test run I was pretty pleased with the results. On day 1 the trailer was basic. It's not that big.. Then I found a post by a fellow that used a part from a farm tractor hitch to make a swivel trailer hitch. Optional Extras.
