Natural Chimneys Park, VA - Starting at the historic Natural Chimneys, the k course gets you warmed up before tackling a short but steep climb in order to run along the single-track spine of Narrow Back Mtn. Once down the other side you face the monster Wolf Ridge climb where you connect to Timber Ridge turning left and staying left as you crest Sand Spring Mtn and descend on Sand Spring Trail. Retrace the Tillman forest access to pick up the Tillman Trail climbing back over Narrow back Mtn to Lick Run before exiting the forest at Bear Trap and cruising your way back to the finish in front of the Natural Chimneys. The Grindstone half marathon course throws a killer climb, a fun ridge run, and a bombing downhill at you, all while still offering a blazing fast start and finish for those interested in a little taste of everything! From there the course follows Lick Run taking you up the short but steep climb to the Narrow Back Mtn ridgeline. Follow the ridgeline before flying back down Tillman Trail east, along the Narrow Back forest access, retracing a fast finish to the base of the towering limestone chimneys and finish line festival.
